TUTORS: Eileen Meakin, Wendy George, Linda Britt, Diana Stickley, Annette Inwood, Karin Forman and Joanne Merrison.
It has been our much discussed intention to hold a creative day of
art/sculpture/nature/cooking workshops for families at Narborough
Hall. Finally, we have a date.
The day will begin with monoprinting, using materials gathered from
the park and garden. Younger children will then have the chance to
model with clay, while adults and older children continue with plaster
carving . We will also be using sand boxes to cast from nature and
create a large outdoor mural.
One room will be set up with easles and plenty of paints and materials
so that children can contribute their own panel to an intriguing
project based on discovering the subtlety of colour in nature. We
will also be learning simple, solvent free, joining techniques when
the panels are assembled and hung in the gallery.
Families will be encouraged to go on a guided walk around the garden
collecting leaves, wild and cultivated for our salad lunch and they
will be invited into the kitchen to make bread.
After lunch we will listen to local legends and stories concerning the
green man. We will then disperse to make green men land sculpture in
the woods. Other afternoon activities will include workshops on
papermaking, weaving and natural crown making.
The day will end with an informal gathering/exhibition of work.
All tutors involved in this project are CRB checked. The day includes
refreshments, lunch and all art materials.
Please bring outdoor clothing, boots and a blanket.
